The truth is families like Eleanor & Henry’s need your help now
For years, Tracie and Matt hoped and prayed they could become a family. You know the sweetness of baby snuggles, the exhaustion of late-night feedings, and the joy of baby’s every milestone. They desperately wanted a baby to love.
You can keep families together with their critically sick children when the unthinkable happens. Your help is needed now more than ever to keep more families together during the holidays while their children receive the care they need.
“I knew I was pregnant right away,” said Tracie. “It didn’t seem likely we would get pregnant, much less with twins!” The twins were due on November 7th. But Tracie began feeling intense contractions on her birthday – 9 weeks early!
Matt rushed Tracie to their local hospital, but due to complications, they were quickly transferred to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor. By the time Tracie arrived, “I was delirious with pain. It was like a scene from Grey’s Anatomy.”
Arriving prematurely, little Henry weighing 3lbs 5oz and Eleanor weighing 3lbs 9oz came into the world. “They were incredibly tiny. Their lungs hadn’t fully developed, and they were so vulnerable to infection. I was discharged two days after they were born, but I couldn’t leave my babies alone at the hospital.” That’s when Tracie and Matt learned about Ronald McDonald House Charities Ann Arbor.
We know the truth about you. You care about Eleanor and Henry. Your caring and generous support make it possible for parents like Tracie and Matt to stay close to their critically sick children while they receive the care they need. “I’m so grateful for the Ronald McDonald House. There was an actual bed, and a shower steps away from the hospital. I could sleep a couple of hours, brush my teeth, and get back to my babies.” After eight weeks, the twins were finally strong enough to go home with mom and dad as a family.
Now, each year on the twin’s birthday, they host a toy drive for Ronald McDonald House Charities Ann Arbor. Because they know firsthand, there are more families in need of the comfort and support you make possible through your kind and generous gift. The truth is, families like Eleanor and Henry’s won’t get the help they need without you. Please give.
