Vehicle Donation

When you donate your vehicle to the Ronald McDonald House Charities Ann Arbor, you are helping to keep another family close to their hospitalized child at a time when it is most crucial.  Donating a vehicle is easy!  CARS (Charitable Adult Rides and Services) will pick up your vehicle for free and the proceeds from the sale will help our families.  You will receive a receipt to use for your itemized tax deduction.

Donations can be made any time online –  or over the phone toll free by calling 1-855-CarsHelp (227-7435) during the following hours:

• 5 a.m. – 9 p.m. PST Monday through Friday
• 5 a.m. – 7 p.m. PST Saturday and Sunday

If you complete the online donation form, a Donor Support Representative from CARS will call within 48 hours to complete the donation and confirm pick-up details.

CARS accepts donations of cars, trucks, motorcycles, trailers, boats, and more. Donations can be made in any state in the USA and in some areas of Canada.  The sale process can take 4-12 weeks.

Donors receive a donation receipt.  Vehicle donations are tax-deductible.  CARS provides an initial donation receipt at the time of the pick-up. If the vehicle sells for $500 or less, donors are mailed a thank you letter within 30 days of the sale of the vehicle, which serves as a tax receipt.  If the vehicle sells for more than $500 and the donor has provided their tax identification number, an IRS form 1098-C will be mailed to the donor within 30 days of the sale stating the amount of gross proceeds (the maximum amount of the donor’s tax deduction) received from the donation.  For specific tax-related questions, donors are advised to consult with their tax advisor.
