Our Relationship with McDonald’s
Ronald McDonald House Charities has been McDonald’s “charity of choice” for over 40 years. We are a non-profit 501 (c ) (3) organization, but McDonald’s is our largest corporate donor. Portions of the annual operating costs for Ronald McDonald Houses are supported by McDonald’s Corp. and the owner/operators of local McDonald’s restaurants, this amount averages around 8% annually. Donation boxes in restaurants are the largest source of ongoing fundraising, as well as Round-Up, a program in which McDonald’s patrons can Round-Up their total on their purchase to the nearest dollar. Each year, the Michigan McDonald’s Owners Business Association makes a substantial donation to each Ronald McDonald House in Michigan.
McDonald’s involvement extends beyond monetary support. Franchises partner with local Chapters for promotional and fundraising events, owner/operators participate on local and global RMHC boards, and McDonald’s employees are dedicated volunteers. In addition, McDonald’s vendors such as The Coca-Cola Company, La-Z-Boy, Georgia Pacific and others are donors supporting RMHCAA with in-kind donations.
The remainder of our annual operating income comes from the generosity of our local community – including individuals, corporations, organizations, and foundations.
