Keeping Families Close
Since opening in 1985, Ronald McDonald House Charities Ann Arbor (RMHCAA) has welcomed over 26,000 families. These families travel a distance from their homes, arriving from out of state and from other countries. Their length of stay may range from a day or two to several months. Our families include moms and dads, brothers and sisters, grandpas and grandmas — RMHCAA is here to keep families together during their difficult time.
Hundreds of volunteers are involved with the Houses. Many serve on shifts which staff the Houses in three-hour increments, 12 hours per day, 365 days per year. Others are members of committees including Board of Directors, dinner groups, family-centered care, events, and fundraising.
The main building, valued at more than $2.2 million and including more than 23,000 square feet, is fully paid for. A very small percentage of the revenue for the operating budget is provided by room donations ($10.00 per night per family) paid by families and by third parties. The remaining revenue comes from donations and special events which the charity sponsors.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Ann Arbor is incorporated in Michigan as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is the legal name under which the Ronald McDonald Houses of Ann Arbor operate. Donations to the House are tax deductible as allowed by law. Customers in McDonald’s Restaurants in Washtenaw, Livingston, and Monroe counties support the charity through donation boxes and promotions such as the “Give A Hand” and other in-restaurant promotions.
